Inova Fairfax Medical Campus Tower OR Perioperative Unit

Inova Health System's main focus for this surgery suite perioperative unit remodel was the reconfiguration of the space and workflow optimization, including a new nurse call system. The renovation was integral to the entire surgery center process. HITT completed the renovation for both the tower operating room (OR) suite and the perioperative unit, as this project is the staging and pre-op area for patients before transfer into the OR.

Completed over five phases, the renovation provides 90 patient bays, inclusive of pre-op, PACU, Stage II, and pediatric units with associated nurse stations, as well as administrative,staff, and patient support areas.

As one of the largest Level 1 trauma centers in the region, Inova Fairfax Medical Campus must maintain a certain amount of active ORs to support patient capacity and is unable to completely close the center. To adhere to this requirement, HITT phased the project to allow the hospital to maintain three peri-op (one pre-op, one PACU, and one stage II bed) per every active operating room.
