HITT was the first U.S. firm to implement Hilti’s semi-autonomous Jaibot on a large-scale site. By deploying the robot to drill elevated holes throughout the 350,000-square-foot, 11-story WMATA headquarters, work was completed in nearly one-fourth the time. This relieved workers from the strenuous and potentially dangerous task of locating and drilling holes overhead, and instead, they could shift focus to more valuable tasks, such as installing systems and other project milestones. Through using technology such as 3D virtual model rooms, 360-degree reality capture, BIM modeling, laser scanning, and augmented reality in concert with the traditional building process, we have enhanced collaboration and efficiency with our clients, and can avoid major cost and schedule impacts to projects. Clients can now visit the site virtually to approve integral details.
