Overview
Located in the Sherman Oaks Galleria in the San Fernando Valley, this project is a retrofit of a Class-A office into a higher education space for DeVry University. In close proximity to Los Angeles’s vital entertainment, hospitality, retail, international trade, and business communities, the Sherman Oaks (Encino) location enables students to explore possible opportunities in a wide variety of industries.
Categorized as a “Change of use project” by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS), the project required additional inspections from multiple planning and building jurisdictions along with DeVry’s own compliance reviews. The space offers spacious classrooms, a virtual research library, a fully wired computer lab, and common areas. Unique features include a rotunda dropped soffit with a wooden slat wall, TECTUM clouds for sound attenuation, and wood slat ceilings in the main lobby.
