Overview
The Democracy Tower Project, located in the center of Reston Town Center, is a mixed-use development of office space, retail, dining and urban residential living that includes a 235,000-sf, nine-story office building constructed on top of an occupied nine-story parking garage. The project was constructed with two contrasting elevations: the south elevation was constructed of a curved, all-glass curtainwall featuring three different glass types and an illuminated bay that accents the feature wall of the project, while the north elevation was constructed of a flat precast and glass wall. The north elevation is more conservative, matching similar buildings in the Reston Town Center,
while the south elevation is more futuristic, sitting off the edge of the garage with a panoramic view. The Democracy Tower Project is a LEED Gold-certified project (and the first LEED-certified office building in Reston Town Center).
