Overview

HITT constructed an 110,000 sf greenfield data center on 20 acres containing a total of 4.5-MW of critical power. This project was delivered on-time and on budget while entering a new market in the surrounding areas of Omaha, Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa. The project team analyzed the subcontractor and procurement strategies prior to beginning the project and had to overcome manpower issues due to market saturation with multiple large hyperscale data center builds creating labor shortages that were difficult to overcome.

As weather mitigation was a big risk factor, with the understanding that the regional weather was unpredictable and included abrupt winds, tornado threats, and extreme cold temperatures, the team created safety plans to ensure the project was still delivered on-time with worker safety being the number on priority on-site. High water tables in the area required the entire site to be pumped down with multiple wells in order to install foundations. Auger cast piles were installed due to the fatty clays present in the soil.
