The client requested a phased and fast-tracked 11-month schedule to accommodate partial occupancy during construction. HITT completed this phased renovation with an aggressive approach to floor turnover. The most extensive phasing during the entire project had work being completed on nine of the 11 floors at one time. The scope of the work performed included full renovations to all 11 floors of the hotel, including renovations to the 295 guestrooms, 31 suites, and all public spaces. The W Hotel, redesigned with an eye-catching and bold aesthetic, contracted HITT to renovate its public spaces, including the rooftop “POV Lounge and Terrace” with iconic views of the Washington Monument, restaurant, lobby, lobby bar, reception, concierge, cellar bar, living room, VIP lounge, great room, prefunction space, and mezzanine terrace. The guestroom renovation work included demolition of preexisting demising walls and installation of new showers, millwork, and mechanical units. The hotel is pending LEED Certified certification. The W Hotel, formerly Hotel Washington, has been an icon of the Washington, DC hospitality scene for more than a century. HITT has been fortunate enough to continue creating inspiring spaces for the historic hotel, allowing visitors and locals alike to enjoy.
