Overview
Venable is an American Lawyer 100 law firm with an international presence, dedicated to a multitude of law specialties. Founded in 1900 in Baltimore, Maryland, the firm has numerous office locations, five of which are centrally located near the nation’s capital.
HITT worked with Venable as their general contractor to complete a high-end interior build-out in their Washington, DC office. Located at 600 Massachusetts Avenue NW, this project consisted of nearly 300,000 square feet of heavily coordinated, high-end finishes. Among the extensive renovations included a full-service kitchen and servery, a multipurpose room with a 26-foot display and speakers, and a seven-story communicating stair with back-painted glass backdrop.
This stairwell connected the practice floors while a custom oak tread monumental stair connected the conference floors.
This project took 30 weeks to complete, and challenged the team to coordinate with the design team as well as the owner’s vendors to ensure they stayed on top of schedule with long-lead items. One item that took particular planning for was the large, 15-ton truss the team had to plan accordingly for to fireproof and install into the top-level servery. This project is LEED Silver certified.
