Valuing Every Voice in Construction Safety

Each year, we join our clients and trade partners in celebrating Construction Safety Week. This annual event serves as a powerful reminder of our unwavering commitment to safety, allowing us to strengthen our already robust safety culture.

This year’s theme of “Value Every Voice” resonates with us. We understand that fostering a supportive culture is paramount to ensuring a safe work environment. By listening, understanding, and embracing open communication on our sites, we not only prioritize safety but also cultivate an environment where every individual feels valued and respected.

Every decision, every incident, and every voice matters. Each of us has the power to shape our projects, influence our teams, and impact our industry as a whole. Safety is not just a priority; it’s the foundation upon which we build and measure our success.

To kick off Construction Safety Week, our safety leaders shared why celebrating safety is so important and what working safely means to them.

Vice President of Safety Mark Dumas “Construction Safety Week helps reinforce our commitment to safety throughout the construction industry, engage our workforce, celebrate achievements, and inspire continuous improvement. We value every voice year-round through HITT’s Culture of Care, our safety program all about creating an environment where workers feel valued, supported, and empowered to do their best work while prioritizing their safety and wellbeing.”

Director of Safety Julieanne Myers: “I believe working safely is both a personal responsibility and a shared commitment. It begins with individual accountability and ownership. Early on I realized the ripple effect our actions can have on the wellbeing of those around us.”

Director of Safety James Reinhardt: “Every night my twin daughters tell me they love me and then say a short prayer asking that I come home safe from work the next day. I do everything I can to answer their prayers and come home each day to my family the way I left.”

Director of Safety Preston Ward: “I look forward to Construction Safety Week each year, as it provides an opportunity for us to collaborate internally with our leadership teams and externally with our clients and trade partners on a common initiative. It’s an excellent platform to enhance awareness and cultivate stronger bonds.”

Throughout Construction Safety Week we’re excited to hold daily safety stand downs on every jobsite and perform safety demonstrations alongside our trade partners. We’re proud of our dedicated team members and trusted partners, who reaffirm safety commitments each year to prioritize safety on every construction site across the country. Together, we aren’t just constructing buildings; we’re building a culture of safety that strengthens our industry and ensuring a safer future for all.
