HITT’s Multifamily Team Donates 497 Trees Through Trees for Keys Initiative

The donation marks the completion of two apartment communities in Washington, D.C.

HITT Contracting’s multifamily team donated 497 trees this week to the National Forest Foundation as part of the company’s Trees for Keys initiative. The recent donation marks the successful completion of two multifamily communities by the firm—The Lydian and The Banks apartments, both located in Washington, D.C.

To commemorate the recent donation, HITT volunteers joined Casey Trees over the weekend for a spring planting event at the historic Congressional Cemetery. Launched in April 2017, the Trees for Keys initiative aims to plant a tree for every new apartment unit completed by HITT’s multifamily sector as a way to give back and promote green practices in the community. To date, the team has donated more than 2,800 trees.

“We were very lucky to find a local charity whose philosophy and culture aligned so well with HITT’s Trees for Keys campaign,” said Josh Foreso, Senior Vice President. “Casey Trees is a fixture in the D.C. community for its philanthropy and beautification of the city that gave root to our business 83 years ago.”

The Lydian, Quadrangle Development’s 324-unit apartment community, offers residents with living spaces featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, chef-inspired kitchens, and private courtyards in select units. The community amenities include a rooftop resort-style pool, coffee bar, dog grooming station, and easy access to mass transit.

The Banks, PN Hoffman’s 173-unit apartment community, is located steps away from the Southwest waterfront and offers residents homes equipped with wood-style flooring, quartz countertops, and expansive windows with water views. The community amenities include a clubroom with lounge seating, pet spa, and rooftop entertainment with fire pit and grilling areas.

“The Trees for Keys program is a testament to HITT Contracting’s long-standing reputation for corporate social responsibility in the greater D.C. area,” said John Bradley, Senior Vice President of Construction and Field Operations at PN Hoffman. “We are proud to play a role in this important initiative through PN Hoffman’s residential building, The Banks, and are looking forward to planting more trees by partnering on future projects with HITT.”
