Leading DC Companies Join Hands for Hurricane Relief

On Friday, September 29, we had the opportunity to join forces with leading organizations in the DC area to pack meals for the hurricane relief effort. Led by Protiviti as part of their i on Hunger initiative, teams from HITT, Freddie Mac, and other companies packed more than 230,000 individual meals.

We didn’t just contribute manpower, we also collaborated to find a solution to the challenge of getting the meals to the people of hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico. Despite the complexities of the situation in moving supplies inland, the team was moved by the dire needs of the Puerto Rican people, and felt compelled to make it happen.

Thanks to the generosity of Hilton, up to 150,000 of the 230,000 meals will be shipped on a Hilton barge to Puerto Rico to directly aid those affected by Hurricane Maria. Through Protiviti’s existing relationship with Feeding Children Everywhere, the remaining 80,000 meals will be delivered to those affected in both Texas and Florida.

In addition to the meal packing effort, HITT team members, subcontractors, and vendors also raised more than $71,000 for our HITT colleagues in Houston to aid in the recovery effort from Hurricane Harvey.

Leading by example to help our communities and colleagues in their time of need is a reflection of The HITT Way. Thanks to all of the HITT team members, Clients, partners, and subcontractors who joined forces to aid in the hurricane recovery efforts. While there is still a long road ahead for many, we’re hopeful these actions have lessened the burden.
