Lafayette Center, located in downtown Washington, DC, underwent a variety of changes and upgrades to both the public spaces as well as the Commodities and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) offices. In the main lobby, the existing two-story atrium roof and skylight structure were removed in addition to the two monumental stone and steel stair synagogues. New work included the installation of clear-span girder trusses and a composite steel and concrete infill floor, as well as new entry ramps. In addition to the lobby upgrades, the project included the build-out of a new fitness center, complete with locker room facilities, audiovisual systems and tenant security. New HVAC and electrical infrastructure were installed to accommodate CFTC's new assembly space.
