Inova Fairfax Hospital Critical Care Wing
Inova Fairfax Hospital, Inova's flagship hospital, is an 833-bed, nationally recognized regional medical center serving the Washington, DC metro area. Over the span of seven months, our team completed a 13,345 square-foot renovation of two floors in the facilities Critical Care Wing.
The project involved a complete gut and renovation of the ground and second floors of an existing three-story building (with a basement for mechanical systems) to create 12 short-stay patient rooms and related support facilities on each floor.
During the process, existing MEP infrastructure were overhauled and upgraded. A rooftop air handling unit (AHU) serving the second floor of the CCW was removed and replated, while three AHUs that previously fed the ground and first floors were replaced with one larger AHU. As this project was completed while the facility was occupied, the team used temporary AHUs to maintain required heating and cooling levels while the new units were installed.
