This week, HITT joins the National Association of Women in Construction to celebrate Women in Construction Week. In construction, women make up less than 10 percent of the workforce. It’s important that we both celebrate women leaders across the building industry and inspire more women to consider careers in construction2019 is projected to be another strong year for construction; nearly 80 percent of construction firms plan to increase their headcount. As we face continued challenges to meet the industry’s demand for skilled talent, recruiting women to construction – both in craft and construction management positions – will be critical to the long-term viability of the building trades. At HITT, women continue to rise through the ranks in both operations and field leadership, and in the C-suite. Studies show that diverse teams outperform homogenous teams. By ensuring our leaders are diverse in gender, ethnicity, and perspectives, HITT is more productive, efficient, and innovative. We are grateful and proud of the contributions of our women leaders at HITT and across the building industry who continue to elevate the business of building.Follow us on social media this week (March 4 – 10) as we share stories and insights in celebration of Women in Construction Week 2019.
