Achieving Construction Alignment: Part 2

Maintaining our internal quality standards on every project is incredibly important to the HITT experience. We pay close attention to details that may go unnoticed, ensuring the final product exceeds not only our own standards, but those of our client.

Maintaining our internal quality standards on every project is incredibly important to the HITT experience. We pay close attention to details that may go unnoticed, ensuring the final product exceeds not only our own standards, but those of our client. These unique tangible quality control measures surpass industry standards and are included on all HITT projects, regardless if they are specified by the contract. We call these our quality non-negotiables.

On a recent law firm headquarters renovation, my team experienced an alignment issue while hanging ceiling drywall. Various overhead systems caused significant crowding in the ceiling, resulting in the access panels being hung out of alignment.

Technically, the access panels were installed properly: they met both industry and client requirements. But they failed to meet HITT’s quality standards for finished work, which requires access panels to be hung in alignment for visual appeal. Despite the client saying it was not necessary, we reworked the layout of the overhead systems to achieve the HITT non-negotiable.

While rework on a project isn’t ideal, we’ve built our reputation on our attention to detail and commitment to non-negotiable quality. Non-negotiables mean we never compromise quality.
