The company, headquartered and founded in the District, was relocating its office space and was in need of a general contractor to provide construction services for one entire floor, one partial floor, and lower level space in its new office. The firm brought on CBRE as their project manager, with whom HITT has extensive partnering experience. Together, the project team worked together on space planning options, phasing approach, and long lead material procurement prior to site mobilization. During construction, HITT built a feature stair with wood treads, glass guardrails, and polished stainless steel rails. There are Unifor demountable glass office fronts throughout the space, and wood veneer paneling throughout reception area. The HITT team began construction following unfavorable conditions after the base building was completed, specifically extreme floor levelness deficiencies. HITT overcame these construction issues by strategizing a method to minimize leveling for the Unifor demountable glass office fronts, which require a high tolerance of floor leveling. This strategy allowed HITT’s work to meet the strict structural load requirements as well. At the end of the project, the client was ecstatic with the vibrant appeal of the space and the extensive millwork throughout the space. With the Unifor glass office fronts, the open environment promotes collaboration for Bates White’s employees in their new office space.
