Verizon Expanding in Culpeper

The Culpeper Star-Exponent recently published an article on the Verizon Terremark expansion project in Culpeper, VA. Below is a snippet from the feature:

Falls Church-based HITT Contracting Inc. has served as general contractor on the Culpeper project from the beginning with a total construction contract value of about $232 million, not including the latest job. Stephen Schoenefeldt, a HITT vice-president, said the new structure is primarily made of cast-in-place concrete with precast concrete framing and walls and a galvanized structural steel roof. Cedar Mountain Stone, located in Culpeper County, is a primary supplier of materials for the job that employs an average of 100 tradespeople on any given day, according to Schoenefeldt.

“HITT has a technology sector focus on mission critical clients,” he said. “Verizon is one of our premier clients for sure  — the Culpeper project is the largest one in our technology sector. What’s unique about this is it’s a campus, not a stand-alone building, that we have built over the course of eight years.”

Schoenefeldt, of Herndon, said the target date for completion is Sept. 1.
