HITT Contracting Inc. was the general contractor for the interior build-out of Sustainable Building Partners’ (SBP) new LEED Platinum headquarters office. SBP’s new office location not only served as a place for its employees to collaborate and work but the actual development of the space was a hands-on case study for the organization’s core competencies. On July 16, 2015, the U.S. Green Building Council – National Capital Region (USGBC-NCR) awarded the 2015 Project of the Year: Commercial Interiors Award to Sustainable Building Partners for the SBP headquarters at the thirteenth annual A Midsummer Night’s Green gala.
USGBC-NCR developed the awards program in order to acknowledge outstanding accomplishments in sustainable design and construction, to honor businesses that have adopted green practices into their mission, and to celebrate chapter members who have advanced sustainability here in the National Capital Region. The award recipients were selected by a distinguished panel of leaders from various fields within the local sustainable design community and development industry.
